The Afghanistan national cricket team won its final match of the Super Eight stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 against Bangladesh, qualifying for the semi-final round for the first time in the history of Afghan cricket.
After winning the toss, Afghan skipper Rashid Khan chose to bat first, putting up a total of 116 runs.
This was then reduced to 114 in 19 overs due to rain. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the top scorer for Afghanistan with 43 runs off 55 balls, followed by Rashid Khan’s quick 19 off 10 balls.
In the second half of the match, Afghan bowlers dominated, restricting the opposition to 105 runs in 17.5 overs.
Naveen-ul-Haq, with his four crucial wickets, was named Player of the Match.
Rashid Khan also took four wickets, while Mohammad Nabi and Gulbadin Naib took one wicket each.
Afghanistan will play against South Africa in the next round of the World Cup on June 27th at 5:00 AM Afghanistan time.
