Afghanistan Secures Historic Test Victory Against Zimbabwe

The Afghanistan national cricket team achieved a victory by 72 runs against Zimbabwe on the final day of the second Test match of the series on Monday, January 6. This marked their fourth Test victory in the history of Afghanistan's cricket.

In this match, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bowl first, allowing Afghanistan to bat first.

In the first innings, Afghanistan scored 157 runs, losing all their wickets. In response, Zimbabwe managed 243 runs, also losing all their players.

In the second innings, Afghan players scored 363 runs, setting a target of 277 runs for Zimbabwe. However, due to Rashid Khan's exceptional bowling, Zimbabwe could only score 205 runs, losing all their wickets.

In the batting department, Rahmat Shah Zurmatai scored 19 runs in the first innings and an impressive 139 runs in the second innings. Ismat Alam, who had been dismissed without scoring in the first innings, scored a valuable 101 runs in the second innings.

Rashid Khan, with 11 wickets across both innings, was named the Player of the Match. Additionally, Rahmat Shah, with a total of 392 runs in two innings, was awarded the Player of the Series title.

The first Test match in the two-match series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe had ended in a draw.

Since 2018, the Afghanistan national cricket team has played a total of 11 Test matches, recording 4 victories, 6 defeats, and 1 draw.

Afghanistan’s tour of Zimbabwe was highly successful.

Before the Test series, Afghanistan also defeated Zimbabwe in T20 and ODI series.
