A large sports complex worth nearly four million U.S. dollars is set to be built in Khost province.
Officials from the Physical Education Department and the National Olympic Committee laid the foundation stone during a visit to Khost. They announced that the complex will be built by the "Najib Talash Charity Foundation."
The international-standard facility will be constructed on ten acres of land and will include volleyball, football, and tennis courts, a gym, a standard gymnasium, and a religious school for athletes and sports enthusiasts.
Ahmadullah Wasiq, Head of Physical Education and Sports, emphasized the government’s support for athletes and said this complex would play a significant role in promoting and expanding sports across the country. He also urged other private sector actors to contribute to sports development.
Additionally, Mohammad Yousuf Kargar, president of the Football Federation, said the construction of this complex in Khost presents a valuable opportunity to host both national and international competitions.
This comes as a similar sports complex was planned for Herat under the previous government, but construction was delayed following the political transition in Afghanistan.
