Afghan Boxer Retains Title After Friday’s TKO

Afghanistan’s Jama Saidi, who lives in Germany, retained his International Boxing Federation (IBF) European Super Welterweight Title after a TKO against his German rival Sebastian Deda in the 8th round of a match on Friday night. 

This is the first defeat for Deda who has ten victories with three knockouts to his name.

Saidi won the title in March after defeating Armenian Arman Torosyan in March. 

“I congratulate Jama for his victory and thank everyone of you for your support,” said Lama Saidi, Jama’s mother. 

“I am very happy that I have defeated my rival and I thank all my countrymen that always remember me in their prayers,” said Jama. 

This was his 13th consecutive victory in professional boxing, including six knockouts.

The 24-year-old boxer turned professional in 2011 and is the first Afghan boxer to hold the IBF European title.
