Afghan Boxers Prepare for China Competition

Two members of Afghanistan's national boxing team have are attending special training sessions in hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

The event will be held in China next month and representatives from 50 Asian nations will attend.

The two national athletes, Ramish Rahmani and Faizullah Sulatani, will attend the event in the 49kg and 81kg weight categories, respectively.

Their coach, Nisar Ahmad Qarizada, said there is nothing they aren't trying that could be helpful to prepare the boxers for the event.

“Two of our athletes have been under quarantine for the past two months. Their training is underway,” Qarizada said.

The boxers said they started their exercises two months ago in order to be fully prepared for the big event.

“We are being trained by trainers of the national team,” Rahmani said.

“We have tried hard to prepare for the event, to achieve for our people,” Sultani said.
