Football: Afghan Team Prepares to Play India

Members of Afghanistan’s National Football Team are preparing for their next two matches against India and Qatar in the 2022 World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

They attended a training session in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Sunday, as part of their preparations.

Afghanistan is playing in Group E against Qatar, Bangladesh, Oman and India, and is currently in third place, with three points.

Afghanistan lost its first match, 0-6, to Qatar, but won its second match against Bangladesh, 1-0.

The national team will face India on Thursday.

“We started our training today (Sunday). We will have a five-day training period ahead of the India match,” Dastgir said. “All the players are ready and have high morale.”

The footballers will compete against the Qatar team in their fifth competition for the World Cup and AFC Asian Cup.

“We are well prepared for the match against India,” said Wais Azizi, a member of the national football team.

The matches, which will take place at the central grounds in Dushanbe, will be broadcast live by Lemar TV.

The Afghanistan-India match will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Kabul time.
