Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered near the US Congress as Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, addressed Congress members on Thursday, July 25.

Dozens of Democrats boycotted the Israeli premier's speech, in which he dismissed the killing of over 39,000 people in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

During his hour-long speech, frequently interrupted by applause, Netanyahu aimed to bolster U.S. support for Israel, particularly in terms of weapon supplies, amidst growing international criticism following more than nine months of conflict in the Palestinian enclave.

This conflict threatens to escalate into a broader regional conflict.

This comes as Israeli tanks have entered Khan Younis in Gaza, killing over 80 people and wounding 200 more on Monday, July 22.

The Israeli army has also ordered residents in Gaza to evacuate their homes, forcing 150,000 people to flee.
