Remembering Life of Yahya Sinwar, His Role in Start of Hamas

Yahya Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar was born on October 29, 1962, in the Khan Younis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip.

Sinwar’s family was forced to migrate following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, which led to the displacement of many Palestinians.

Yahya Sinwar attended school in the Khan Younis area and later earned a bachelor's degree in Arabic language from the Islamic University of Gaza.

As a political leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar said: "Today, our people are launching a new phase of struggle and national resistance for freedom and return. Today, our people, from all across the nation—from Gaza, the West Bank, the territories occupied in 1948, and from other countries—are stepping forward to launch this new phase and correct the course."

In the late 1980s, Sinwar founded Hamas' security service known as "Majd."
During his studies, he quickly became a significant member of Hamas, playing a key role in its organization.

Sinwar was heavily involved in anti-Israeli operations, playing an important role. It is said that during this period, he was able to strengthen his skills in security and military matters, making him one of Hamas’ most prominent figures.

Yahya Sinwar stated: "By God's will, we will come to you like a raging flood, with an endless number of rockets, with a storm of countless soldiers, and with millions of our people."

Since February 2017, Yahya Sinwar has been the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. As the political leader of Hamas, Sinwar warned: "If the whole world doesn't act, you must take action and stop Israel; otherwise, this will lead to the eruption of a major religious war in the region, threatening to bring unrest and chaos to the Middle East and the entire world."

On August 6, 2024, after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Yahya Sinwar was appointed as the head of Hamas' political bureau.

Yahya Sinwar, the political leader of Hamas, was killed yesterday (October 17) in an Israeli attack in Gaza.
