Saudi Arabia Affirms Palestinians in Gaza Are Not Refugees to Be Expelled

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks about the displacement of Palestinians, has welcomed the positions of Islamic countries and emphasized the importance of efforts regarding the Palestinian cause.

In a statement, the ministry declared its categorical rejection of any remarks aimed at diverting attention from the ongoing crimes committed by Israel against Palestinians.

The statement reads: “This extremist, occupying mentality does not understand what the holy land of Palestine means to the Palestinian people and their emotional, historical, and legal connection to this land. This mindset also does not recognize the Palestinians’ right to live and, without any human or moral responsibility, has completely destroyed the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring more than 160,000 people, most of them women and children.”

Following a suggestion by US President Donald Trump regarding the occupation of Gaza and the forced displacement of Palestinians, Netanyahu stated that Palestinians should be relocated to Saudi Arabia.

However, the Kingdom affirmed that Palestinians in Gaza are not refugees who can be expelled from their land at the will of the Israeli occupation.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said: “The proponents of these extremist ideas are the very ones who have prevented Israel from accepting peace by rejecting the peace initiatives proposed by Arab countries, systematically oppressing the Palestinian people for the past 75 years, and disregarding truth, justice, law, and the principles of the United Nations Charter—particularly the human right to live in dignity on their own land.”

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed that the rights of the Palestinian people will be preserved and that no one will be able to take them away. The Kingdom also reiterated that a lasting peace will not be achieved except by returning to the logic of reason and accepting the principle of peaceful coexistence through the two-state solution.

Previously, the foreign ministers of Arab countries—including Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Palestine—issued a joint statement warning that such actions would destabilize the region and create conditions for further conflict and war.
