Israel Will Begin Negotiations on Next Phase of Gaza Ceasefire This Week

Israel and Hamas will begin indirect negotiations on a second stage of the Gaza ceasefire deal, Reuters said.

According to Reuters, Hamas will hand over more prisoners this week.

Khalil al-Hayya, leader of Hamas in Gaza, said the bodies of four hostages, including those of the Bibas family, would be returned on Thursday. Six living hostages would follow on Saturday.

Hamas proposed exchanging all Israeli prisoners and Palestinian prisoners in “one go” during the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire

According to Qatari media outlets, the aim of this move is to reach a permanent truce and a full Israeli pullout.

Majed Al Ansari, Qatar's foreign ministry spokesperson, reaffirmed on Tuesday Qatar's commitment, along with its mediation partners Egypt and the United States, to supporting mediation efforts to initiate the second phase of ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip.

In a press conference, he stated that contacts on this matter are ongoing daily with all parties involved, adding that several delegations have arrived in Doha in recent days and held extensive talks.

Al Ansari said that these negotiations have not yet begun in an official capacity.
