According to Reuters, Hamas will release six Israeli prisoners today (Saturday) as part of the first phase of the ceasefire with Israel.
This marks the final group among the 33 prisoners exchanged in this phase.
According to the report, Israel will, in return, release 602 Palestinian prisoners, including individuals sentenced to long-term imprisonment.
These prisoners will be handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the city of Rafah and the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza.
Last Thursday, Hamas handed over the bodies of a mother and two children to Israel.
These three individuals had been captured by Hamas in October 2023 but, according to Hamas, were killed in Israeli airstrikes.
However, Israel has not yet accepted that these individuals were killed in its airstrikes.
Previously, Hamas had proposed that in the second phase of the prisoner exchange, all prisoners be swapped simultaneously.
