World Reactions to Israel’s Airstrikes on Gaza

On Tuesday morning, Israel carried out extensive airstrikes in various parts of Gaza.

These strikes resulted in the deaths of more than 400 people and left around 500 others injured.

The Israeli airstrikes have triggered widespread international reactions.

Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reacted strongly on X, calling the situation "hell on earth."

He stated, "Fueling 'hell on earth' by resuming the war will only bring more despair and suffering. A return to the ceasefire is a must.”

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, responded to the Israeli attack in Gaza and said he was "horrified by last night’s Israeli airstrikes and shelling in Gaza, which killed hundreds."

He added, “The last 18 months of violence have made abundantly clear that there is no military path out of this crisis. The only way forward is a political settlement, in line with international law. Israel’s resort to yet more military force will only heap further misery upon a Palestinian population already suffering catastrophic conditions."

Meanwhile, Irish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris described the attacks as “deeply concerning”, stating: "We need to see a permanent end to hostilities and a pathway to peace."

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also condemned the strikes, calling them “horrifying” due to the high number of civilian casualties.

The Kremlin also expressed concern over the Israeli attacks, which have resulted in heavy casualties.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry labeled the airstrikes “genocide”, claiming that they were carried out with the “approval of the United States.”
On the other hand, Israel has warned that these airstrikes will continue, stating that Tuesday’s attacks were “just the beginning.”

This comes as the White House had said that the fresh Israeli airstrikes on Gaza were coordinated with Washington.
