Iran Conveys Position to US Through Oman in Indirect Talks

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Seyed Abbas Araqchi, the country’s foreign minister, visited Oman at the head of a delegation to participate in indirect talks with the United States, and met with Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s foreign minister.

Iran’s top diplomat described Oman’s hosting of the Iran–US indirect talks as a sign of Muscat’s responsible approach toward regional issues and developments, and expressed gratitude for Oman’s efforts in facilitating the talks.

According to a statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Araqchi traveled to Oman to discuss the nuclear issue and the lifting of what Iran calls “oppressive and illegal” US sanctions. He shared Iran’s key points and positions with the Omani foreign minister to be relayed to the American side.

Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s foreign minister, described relations between Muscat and Tehran as “excellent” and thanked Iran for choosing Oman as the venue for the dialogue.
