Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced positive progress in economic talks with the United States, stating that a mining agreement with the US has yielded promising outcomes.
According to Zelensky, the economic negotiations are nearing completion, and if the current pace continues, the agreement could bring significant economic benefits to both countries.
Zelensky said: "Good results have been achieved by the Ukrainian government team working with the American side on an economic partnership agreement. First Vice Prime Minister Svyrydenko reported on this today. Basic legal matters are almost finalized, and if everything continues to move as quickly and constructively, the agreement will bring economic results to both our countries: Ukraine and America.”
He also mentioned that discussions are ongoing regarding the deployment of European military forces in Ukraine and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to swiftly implement political decisions in this regard.
The Ukrainian president added: "There has just been a report by Defense Minister Umerov on communication and joint work with our partners in Europe: there will be new support packages, and we are also preparing a new security architecture - all the specific details of how the security contingent of partners can function in Ukraine. For our part, we will do everything we can to ensure that political decisions on the contingent are implemented as quickly as possible, when the time comes.”
Zelensky also praised his Finnish counterpart for Finland’s strong support of Ukraine.
These developments come as Zelensky, in a meeting with the NATO secretary general yesterday, called on the UK, France, and other NATO member states to actively work toward forming a security group in Ukraine.
