Zelenskiy Calls for Immediate Ceasefire, Peace Talks with Moscow

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy has recently stated that Kyiv remains committed to its proposal to avoid attacks on civilian infrastructure and is calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to achieve this goal.

Zelenskiy also announced Ukraine’s readiness to hold talks with Moscow and that a Ukrainian delegation will participate in the London peace summit.

The Ukrainian president added: "Ukraine maintains its proposal not to strike at least civilian infrastructure. And we are expecting a clear response from Moscow. We are ready for any conversation about how to achieve this. There is an obvious, simplest, and most reliable path: to stop missile and long-range drone strikes, which would automatically ensure the protection of all civilian infrastructure. A ceasefire – real and lasting – must be the first step toward a reliable and enduring peace."

These positions are being expressed as the war between Russia and Ukraine enters its fourth year, with clashes still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Zelenskiy confirmed that a Ukrainian delegation will attend the peace summit in London on Wednesday, stating that the main goal of these talks is to achieve an unconditional ceasefire.

He added: "Ukrainian representatives, both at the meetings that took place in Paris and the ones scheduled this week in London, have a primary task: to push for an unconditional ceasefire. This must be the starting point. Peace comes in silence. And only when there is real silence and people trust the entire negotiation process can fundamental issues be resolved."

Meanwhile, the United States has called on European countries to participate in the peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, which are being led by Washington.
