The suicide attack at Darul Uloom Haqqania mosque, located in Akora Khattak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has sparked widespread reactions.
The Islamic Emirate strongly condemned the attack in an official statement and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
Mawlana Hamid Ul Haq Haqqani, the head of Darul Uloom Haqqania in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lost his life in the attack.
The statement described the attack as "brutal" and called the killing of Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani a great loss for academic and religious circles.
According to reports, the suicide bombing took place during Friday prayers.
In addition to Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, three other people were killed, and about 21 others were injured in the attack.
Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, a former senator of Pakistan, commented on the incident: “This is a horrific act of terrorism. It highlights the failure of both provincial and central governments and proves that security and intelligence agencies have completely failed. Where are the institutions responsible for ensuring security? Our demand is that security must be ensured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
