MEHWAR: Kabul’s Water Crisis Discussed

The National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) has warned that underground water reserves in Kabul will dry up within the next 10 years amid an increasing demand and over use of water in the capital city.

There are 213,000 wells in Kabul City, experts say. 

An official from the Ministry of Energy and Water said the drop in underground water levels in the city is extremely concerning and that action needs to be taken against companies that use water illegally and excessively.
