664 New Coronavirus Cases Reported in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday reported 664 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,211 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Kabul was on the top of the list with 316 new cases, followed by Kandahar with 34.

Other provinces reporting cases were Nangarhar (7), Paktia (22), Badghis (2), Takhar (32), Baghlan (32), Logar (11), Nimruz (3), Bamiyan (2), Parwan (34), Laghman (21), Kunduz (14), Kunar (8), Helmand (7), Kapisa (30), Panjshir (31), Paktika (19), Zabul (3), Daikundi (12), and Nuristan (24).

Also, 20 people were reported to have died from COVID-19 in Kabul (6), Nangarhar (9), Paktia (2) and Parwan (3).

524 have recovered in the past 24 hours, according to the ministry.

The number of active cases in Afghanistan is 19,570, according to the Public Health Ministry.

The total number of known deaths from COVID-19 in the country is 471 and the total recovered cases is 4,725, according to ministry information.

So far, 55,981 samples have been tested and the total number of positive COVID-19 cases is 24,766, data by the ministry shows.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 430,173 and the number of global coronavirus cases is 7,789,024, according to Johns Hopkins University.
