On Sunday, the Ministry of Public Health reported 1,075 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 3,717 samples tested in the last 24 hours.   

The ministry also reported 67 deaths from COVID-19 and 851 recoveries in the same period.   

The number of total recorded cases is 134,653 and total deaths is 5,791, according to figures by the Public Health Ministry.   

On Friday, Afghanistan received 1.48 million doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine provided by the US. 

The Ministry of Public Health said the implementation of the vaccine was started in the country’s health centers on Saturday. 

This is the first of two vaccine consignments to arrive this month, bringing the total donation to around 3.3 million doses. 

Johns Hopkins University reports that the number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 4,027,175 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 186,562,325.
