Govt Asked to Arrest Plotters of Kabul University Attack

As Afghans continue to reel from the deadly attack on Kabul University on Monday, family members of the victims on Wednesday called on the government to show efficiency and identify those who helped the insurgents from the school to forge the devastation.

Rauf Arif was one of the 18 students killed in the attack. He was a final year student of Public Administration Faculty. He also worked in a private firm to support his family.

Arif’s father is serving in the Afghan army and hasn’t been paid for several months.

“The suicide attackers cut him in pieces. His body parts were brought home. What should I do now? They have given responsibility of the institutions to less qualified people. How the attackers breached the university? We don’t have qualified people for work,” said Rauf Arif’s father.

“For God sake, how you (attackers) killed them while looking to their eyes,” said Ahmad Shah Ghaznavi, Rauf Arif’s cousin.

“He was offered a scholarship, but he refused to go abroad and told his mother that he will do his masters degree here. He said that he was raised in this land and will serve here,” said Mohammad Rafiq, Rauf Arif’s uncle.

Husna Yusufi, another student of Public Administration Faculty, was also killed in the attack.

Both Husna and Rauf Arif were among the top students in the department.

“Husna was a decent girl. She was always afraid. She was telling her mother that she is going for education and one day she will be martyred,” said Mohammad Arif Yousufi, Husna’s uncle.

“There has been a presence of the fifth pillar inside the school and this fifth pillars managed to help the terrorists to infiltrate the campus. This should be investigated. The roots of this incident must be found inside the university,” added Mohammad Arif Yousufi.

About 25,000 students are currently enrolled in the university. The university was reopened on Wednesday and the students have returned to their classes.

At lest 18 students were killed in the attack.
