Defense Ministry: Charkh District Under Govt Forces Control

The Defense Ministry on Monday said that due to "the demands of residents, government forces shifted the Charkh district governor's office to another area from a place that was near a school."

The ministry added that the district is "fully under the control of government forces" and that the claims on the fall of Charkh district are not true.

Earlier, sources said that the Charkh district in Logar – almost 90 kilometers east of Kabul – has fallen to the Taliban after a clash with security forces on Sunday night.

There are no numbers available about possible casualties, but another source said the forces made a "tactical retreat" from the district.

The Taliban claims to have captured the center of Charkh district, including the police headquarters and the district governor's compound.
