Recent Clashes Along Durand Line Resulted in Casualties: Source

One Islamic Emirate forces member and one civilian were killed and 14 civilians were wounded in clashes that occurred along the Durand Line in the Dand-e-Patan district of southeastern Paktia province, a source within the Ministry of Defense told TOLOnews.

The videos received by TOLOnews show the deputy defense minister, Mullah Mohammad Fazal Akhund, arriving in Dand-e-Patan to assess the situation.

The source said that the deputy minister appointed a delegtion comprised of tribal elders to negotiate with the Pakistani side—and that the clashes ended after talks with the Pakistani side.

The source said that there have been casualties on the Pakistan side.

Dawn, a Pakistani newspaper, said that seven people, including two children, were wounded by shelling from Afghanistan.

The officials of the Islamic Emirate have yet to comment on the matter, but the Pakistani media, citing Pakistan officials, said that the clashes had ended after talks with the Islamic Emirate.
