Muttaqi Discusses Range of Issues with Pakistan Special Envoy

Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the Pakistan special envoy for Afghanistan, Asif Ali Durrani, and discussed a range of maters including economic, political and trade issues, according to MoFA spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi.

Balkhi said on Twitter that Muttaqi stressed that no one will be allowed to use Afghan soil against others. He also called for the solving the problems of Afghan refugees and Afghan detainees in Pakistan.

According to Balkhi, Durrani pledged to make efforts to strengthen the relations between the two countries as well as form bilateral mechanisms to address political and economic issues, resume the construction of Torkham-Jalalabad Road and facilitate visas for those needing medical care.

This comes as the political analysts said that Durrani’s visit to Kabul will help improvement of relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

“First of all, the security situation in Pakistan has deteriorated, so, to find a solution for it, he is seeking the Islamic Emirate’s help for it,” said Sayed Akbar Sial, political analyst.

Durrani’s visit to Afghanistan comes as Pakistani officials have recently claimed that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has a presence in Afghanistan.
