The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi in a meeting with the EU special envoy, Tomas Niklasson discussed the girl’s education in Afghanistan. 

Niklasson said that in the meeting, besides girls' education, the importance of international recognition and the upcoming meeting on Afghanistan in Doha were discussed. 

“Pleased to meet Foreign Minister in Brussels to compare notes on the situation in Afghanistan, the importance of international engagement and education opportunities for all, and our joint intention to work towards a constructive UN meeting in Doha this month,” Niklasson wrote on X. 

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for International Cooperation of Qatar, Lolwah Alkhater, in a meeting with the Italian Special Envoy for the Syrian Crisis and anti-Daesh Coalition, Stefano Ravagnan, discussed Afghanistan, especially ways to support girls' education in Afghanistan. 

“During the meeting, they discussed the Syrian issue and the two countries’ cooperation in the developmental field. They also discussed the Afghan issue, especially ways of supporting female education,” MOFA Qatar said in a statement said. 

This comes as the education of girls above 6th grade has been banned in the country and several girls continue the ask the Islamic Emirate for the reopening of the schools. 

“I am still worried about my future, the girls in the country are in a situation where they are completely hopeless about their future,” said Farzana, a student. 

“The Islamic Emirate must open schools and universities so that we can serve and be more responsible,” said Laila, another student.

Although the Islamic Emirate has not recently mentioned the reopening of schools, they had said that the Islamic Emirate does not oppose girls' education, and efforts to reopen schools and universities for girls continue, they added.
