West: US Supporting Afghanistan’s Full Integration in Intl System

The US special representative for Afghanistan said the US welcomes continuation of the "format" [Doha Meeting] as well as calls for a UN-led process to develop a roadmap for Afghanistan’s full integration in the international system.

Thomas West in a series of X posts said that there remains a strong consensus on collective interests in Afghanistan.

According to West, no country wants to see the emergence of a terrorism threat from Afghanistan.  All want to see women and girls return to secondary school, university, work,
and public life, he said.

“No country wants to see emergence of terrorism threat from Afghanistan. All want to see women and girls return to secondary school, university, work, and public life. Regarding the economy, heard clear commitment to the Afghan people,” wrote Tomas West, the special representative of the US for Afghanistan.

“I suggest that the Islamic Emirate participate in meetings, I believe that we should not let ignorance spread. Closing schools means that ignorance overshadows knowledge,” said Abdul Shukor Dadras, a political analyst.

In the meantime, Mawlawi Kabir, the deputy prime minister for political affairs of the Islamic Emirate, at a graduation ceremony of religious students in Kabul said that the Islamic Emirate will participate in the coming UN-convened meetings on Afghanistan if Kabul’s conditions are accepted.

“If the Afghans’ conditions are accepted and the meetings are in our favor, Afghans will participate. Afghan people’s unity and independence should be taken into consideration,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.

“Afghanistan is a third world country and it cannot be stubborn with the UN,” said Shaker Hayat, a political analyst.

The second Doha meeting hosted by the UNSG in the Qatari capital concluded on February 19, but a special UN representative for Afghanistan was not appointed in the meeting, as had been expected by some analysts.
