The Islamic Emirate reported a bilateral meeting was held between Kabul and Tehran border officials in Islam Qala.
The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Zabihullah Mujahid, said that border tensions between the two countries and the betterment of Kabul-Tehran relations were discussed.
The construction of a road by Iran, and the tension between the border forces of Dogharon customs and the Islamic Emirate were reportedly the main issues of the meeting.
“The meeting with the Iran Islamic Republic was held, and the construction of the road, and also some issues in Islam Qala and security issues were discussed,” said Zabihullah Mujahid.
The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate also said that on Saturday a clash occurred between the forces of the Islamic Emirate and the Pakistani military near the Durand Line in Khost province. But soon the situation at the scene was managed, he added.
“Sometimes clashes on the local level occur, which is not a big issue, and the officials on both sides are currently careful about this issue. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that the Pakistani side takes action before raising the issue,” Mujahid said.
Several military analysts said that border challenges are not addressed with clashes; it should be addressed through negotiations.
“The neighboring countries should not fight on the borders ... instead they should address the problem with Afghanistan through negotiations,” said Kamran Aman, a military analyst.
Since the Islamic Emirate came to power, the border forces of the Islamic Emirate have had many clashes with the Pakistani and Iranian forces in border areas, which has sometimes led to casualties on both sides.
