Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews that the names of 24 officials of the Islamic Emirate are still on the United Nations and European Union blacklist.
The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate once again called for the removal of the names of the Islamic Emirate officials from the United Nations Security Council, the United States, and the European Union blacklist.
The names of the Islamic Emirate officials have not only not been removed from the United Nations blacklist over the course of more than two and a half years, but more names have also been added to this list.
“More than 20 individuals are still on the blacklist, with three or four added, making a total of 24. This is not a positive step. The list should have been eliminated before,” Zabihullah Mujahid said.
The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate added that the pressure policy is not effective and that engagement with the caretaker government will solve the current challenges.
“These bans and sanctions have not yielded results in the past and will not yield results in the future; so countries should not insist on their stance that has not been successful,” he stated.
According to some political affairs experts, the international community has blacklisted important and competent individuals of the caretaker government, which has further affected the foreign relations of the Islamic Emirate.
“The sanctions should have been lifted; Afghanistan's funds are frozen, the blacklist exists; international institutions have made their assistance conditional, all of which affects the people of Afghanistan,” said Qaribullah Sadat, political analyst.
Previously, the Islamic Emirate stated that not removing the names of the Islamic Emirate officials from the blacklist was in violation of the Doha agreement.
