2 Political Parties, 75 Social Organizations Dissolved

The Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate said that in the past year it has dissolved two political parties and 75 social organizations due to illegal activities.

Barkatullah Rasouli, the spokesperson for the ministry, said that the cases of these parties and organizations have been sent to security institutions for further investigation.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Justice has also canceled the activities of 19 charity organizations due to the non-renewal of their licenses.

"At the end of the review, two political parties and social institutions that were operating illegally and without a license were identified and closed down, and their officials have been referred to the security institutions,” Barkatullah Rasouli told TOLOnews.

Previously, the Ministry of Justice also banned the activities of political parties in the country and removed the Directorate of Political Parties from its organizational structure.

"Parties have not had a positive result for the people of Afghanistan in the last 50 years; however, this does not mean that we should eliminate all parties. We must manage the parties, and it is the government's duty to manage them,” said Mohammad Salim Paigeer, a political analyst.

"This is a necessity in the current global context; in all societies, there are diverse viewpoints, and people have different opinions. So people should have the right to gather with those who share their opinions,” said Khaled Mosleh, a political analyst.

Recently, the military court in Kandahar sentenced two individuals to more than 15 years in prison for engaging in political activities.
