At least 21 armed Taliban insurgents, including a local commander, were killed during Afghan National Security forces’ (ANSF) operations in the past 24 hours around the country, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement.
The MoD said the commander, Mullah Jalal, was killed in Faryab.
During the operations, 17 other insurgents were wounded, the MoD’s statement said.
The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Kapisa, Khost, Logar, Paktia, Uruzgan, Faryab, Jawzjan, Balkh and Helmand provinces, the MoD added.
According to the ministry’s statement, during the operation, equipment and weapons belonging to the insurgents were seized by security forces.
No details were provided about whether there were any casualties among security forces.
Taliban has not yet commented on the operations.
