Islamic Emirate Announces Budget for 1401 Solar Year

The Islamic Emirate on Saturday announced the national budget for the solar year 1401, saying that the budget is completely based on the revenue of the country.

The total budget for the fiscal year 1401 is 231 billion afghani.

The second deputy prime minister, Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi, said that about 203 billion afghani is the regular budget and 27.9 billion afghani is the development budget.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan since the beginning has paid serious attention to increased domestic revenue and eliminating corruption. It (Islamic Emirate) has had remarkable achievements in this regard. The budget of the 1401 solar year is based on domestic revenue,” he said.

The budget was announced after nearly two months since the start of the fiscal year.

Meanwhile, the second deputy prime minister said that over 800,000 employees are working within the government.

“After the Islamic Emirate swept into power, all former government employees have their jobs,” he said.

However, the budget has funded a decreased amount for development projects.

Economists say that the decrease of development projects would affect the job opportunities in the country.

“The budget for fiscal year 1401 is the smallest budget over the past 20 years. The development budget is at its lowest with 27 billon Afs. With the implementation of this budget, it is difficult to develop the economy,” said Azeraksh Hafizi, an economist.

The budget of the previous solar year of 1400 was 473 billion Afs, of which 311 billion Afs was for normal operations and 160 billion Afs was for development.
