A team assigned by Ministry of Interior has held talks with tribal elders in Ghazni in a bid to convince protestors to reopen the Kabul-Kandahar Highway to traffic. 

Some Ghazni residents closed the Kabul-Kandahar Highway this week in protest over the killing of two people in Sher Abad village in Qarabagh district. The protestors claim the two people were killed by armed men. 

“The information that has reached us shows that the delegation had a fruitful meeting with elders and influential figures in Ghazni province,” Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish said. “The final decision will be to reopen the closed ways as swiftly as possible.”

“Let’s become united if we want to prevent holding such a grieving ceremony, if we want to stay happy,” a resident of Ghazni said.

“The demand of the protestors from government is to find the killers. You see that all squares have been closed in Ghazni City,” another resident said.
