Father of Quintuplets in Nangarhar Appeals for Assistance

Mohammad Ashraf, a father of quintuplets in Nangarhar, said he is currently living in poor economic conditions and has requested assistance from the caretaker government.

Mohammad Ashraf added that before this, 13 of his children, most of whom were twins, died due to economic challenges.

Ashraf said, "Before this, God gave me 13 children, and due to the disease, that afflicted them, I could not vaccinate them, and it lasted for 7 to 8 months, and God took them back again, most of them were twins and triplets."

The quintuplets were born on Saturday, March 16, in Nangarhar’s provincial hospital.

Doctors at the Nangarhar provincial hospital said that the health condition of four of the five newborns is satisfactory.

Wahidullah Habibi, head of the children's ward at Nangarhar’s provincial hospital, said, "They were born in a very normal condition, only one child weighs 1,400 grams, and according to new medical standards, if the weight of the children is below 1,700 grams, they must be hospitalized."

According to information from the Nangarhar Public Health Department, nearly 24,000 children have been born in this province's provincial hospital over the past year.
