At least two policemen were killed in a Taliban attack in central Kapisa Province on Monday night, local officials said.
The incident took place in Naw Abad village in the center of the province after the Taliban attacked a police check post, a spokesman for provincial police chief, Abdul Shayeq Yuresh, said.
The clash continued for several hours and the Taliban also suffered casualties but there is no exact information about it, Yuresh said, adding that the Taliban retreated from the area.
No civilians were hurt in the attack, he added.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said four policemen were killed in the attack and that their fighters were not hurt.
