The restrictions on withdrawing funds from bank accounts have been lifted, the Central Bank said.  

Earlier, a salary-earning individual was only able to withdraw 30,000 Afs per week from a bank account.    

A spokesman for the Central Bank said the decision was made to facilitate banking facilities for the citizens.  

"Da Afghanistan Bank, based on strategic planning for the banking and financial sector and considering resources, canceled the existing restrictions on the salaries of government and non-government employees, and therefore all banks must pay out the entire salaries of government and non-government employees based on their demands without any delay,” said Mohammad Sabir Mommand, a spokesman for the Central Bank. 

Residents welcomed the move. 

“Without a restriction, an employee can receive the salary of several months at one time, it is a good step,’ said Noorullah, a bank employee.  

However, challenges remain for business people.  

Business people said they have been facing economic challenges and the banking restrictions must be lifted for the enhancement of their business.  

“There is a need for good banking activity for the private sector, especially when it comes to international trade. The traders cannot export or import goods now,” said Mahbob Mohammadi, a businessman.  

With the fall of the former government, the banking system in Afghanistan has faced severe challenges.
