Azizi in Kazakhstan Says Kabul Has Economic-Centric Policy

The acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, at an assembly in Kazakhstan, said the Islamuc Emirate is following an independent, moderate and economic-centric policy.

Speaking at an inauguration ceremony of a joint exhibition of Afghanistan-Kazakhstan, Azizi said that efforts are underway to boost trade between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.

Azizi also spoke of efforts to facilitate an air-corridor between the two countries as well as to facilitate the issuance of visas for traders.

“The establishment of air-corridor, the reopening of a banking branch in each other's territory, the facilitation of visa issuing for trade... and the formation of a joint Chamber of Commerce -- which has taken place,” he said.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that on Thursday in Astana several trade agreements between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan were signed.

The ministry tweeted that the signing was attended by acting Minister Azizi, and Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin.

An official of the Foreign Ministry, Shafi Azam, said that the opportunities for investment have been made and that Kazakh traders can invest in various sectors in Afghanistan.

“The Kazakhstan government has pledged to provide technical assistance in area of drought and climate change in the near future,” Azam said.

“Today was a good opportunity for trade issues and the improvement of trade relations between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan,” said Tawakal Ahmadyar, the Director-General of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment.

Some Afghan participants of the Kazakh-Afghan exhibition said that the exhibition can play an important role in finding markets for Afghan products.

"In today's exhibition, there were agreements signed... this exhibition is good for women entrepreneurs," said Mehraban, a participant.

The Kazakh-Afghan trade show will be opened until August 5th and more than 350 Afghan traders from inside and outside Afghanistan will attend it.
