Afghanistan Reports 55 COVID-19 Deaths in Last 24 Hours

The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday reported 1,556 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 4,245 samples tested in the last 24 hours, a slight decrease in daily reported cases.

The ministry also reported 55 deaths and 932 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period. The figures show that the deaths were nearly 40% less than daily reports in the last two weeks.

The new cases were reported in Kabul (147), Herat (184), Kandahar (61), Balkh (31), Nangarhar (137), Takhar (59), Kunduz (47), Baghlan (49), Faryab (9), Maidan Wardak (38), Helmand (46), Parwan (36), Bamiyan (43), Badakhshan (11), Ghazni (37), Paktia (38), Logar (12), Daikundi (53), Laghman (23), Kunar (34), Zabul (69), Ghor (80), Badghis (199), Farah (19), Uruzgan (25), Khost (20), Jawzjan (32) and Paktika (17) provinces.

The deaths were reported Kabul (20), Balkh (2), Nangarhar (3), Kunduz (5), Baghlan (1), Faryab (4), Maidan Wardak (1), Helmand (2), Paktia (2), Kapisa (1), Logar (1), Laghman (1), Farah (2), Uruzgan (2), Khost (5), Paktika (1) and Samangan (2) provinces.

Data by the Public Health Ministry shows that the total number of cases is 129,021, total deaths stand at 5,415 and total recoveries are at 76,218.

So far, 639,329 samples have been tested in the country’s laboratories for COVID-19. Moreover, more than 980,000 people have had at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine, government data shows.

The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the world stands at 184,186,274 and total deaths are 3,985,486, figures by Johns Hopkins University show.
