Covid-19 Cases Rise in Kabul: Afghan-Japan Hospital

Out of 213 samples, at least 70 tested positive for Covid-19 one last week, an official at the Afghan-Japan hospital said.

The doctors said the negligence of the public toward the virus is the main reason for the increase of Covid-19.

Ahmad Waqas, 13, has been hospitalized for the past three days.

“I felt ill on Tuesday. First, I went to the Ql-Asa hospital and then I went to FMIC and then came here. I feel better now,” he said.

The head of the Covid-19 section of the Afghan-Japan hospital, Zalmai Rishteen, voiced concerns over the rise in Covid-19 cases recently.

“The positive cases have surged recently. We approximately have 40 tests per day, of which between four to five become positive. We tested 25 cases yesterday, of which 13 were positive,” he said.

The doctors urged citizens to take precautionary measures against Covid-19.

“They should observe hygiene. They should refrain from crowded areas because no one will be safe from this wave. This affects children as well because we have a 13-year-old child at the hospital,” said Shir Agha Nasiri, head of the urgent care section of the Afghan-Japan hospital.

According to the Afghan-Japan hospital, Covid-19 has spiked by 40 to 45 percent compared to the previous month.
