Air pollution in the capital has increased with the arrival of winter.

Some residents of the country said that air pollution caused various diseases among the people, especially the children.

The residents asked the authorities to consider serious measures to reduce air pollution in the country, especially in the capital.

"There is a lot of air pollution and we are not satisfied with this condition. The government should do something about this issue to reduce this pollution,” said Basir Ahmad, a Kabul resident.

"Our countrymen should pay attention to cleanliness and not burn the plastic or tires, because this is the reason for the diseases and the air pollution,” said Urfan, another resident of Kabul.

A number of doctors said that air pollution has caused an increase in illness, especially asthma among Kabul residents.

"As a result, harmful particles increase in the air and when these particles are breathed in, it causes an increase of diseases,” said Mirwais Zaland, a doctor.

At the same time, the Kabul municipality and the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) talked about the implementation of the plans of this department to reduce air pollution.

Tofan Jebran, who is in charge of regulation and control of air pollution and waste at the National Environmental Protection Department, says that this department has prepared a six-month plan to reduce the level of air pollution and is implementing it.

Tufan Jibran, the head of the Directorate of Regulation and Control of Air and Garbage Pollution of NEPA said: “According to the plan to reduce and prevent air pollution, NEPA planned six-month plans, which will be applied from the beginning of Mizan to the end of Hoot (September 23 - March 19).”

Nematullah Barekzai, a representative of the Kabul Municipality, said: “Mobile monitoring teams of Kabul municipality are active in the evening and morning when the heating systems of buildings are active. Unfortunately, some high-rise buildings that have central heating and filters turn off their filters because the filters work with water and electricity, so that their electricity consumption will decrease, but we will check.”

According to residents and doctors, poverty and unemployment are one of the reasons why people in Kabul use low-quality fuel and other things to heat their homes, which has increased air pollution in the capital.
