The deputy minister of foreign affairs, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, responded to claims made by Pakistani authorities about the Durand Line by saying that the line does not belong to Pakistan.

Stankzai told TOLOnews that Durand's line is a challenge left over from the time of the British.

"The Durand Line is an imaginary line, and there is no issue between Pakistan and us in this respect. The issue is that the British at the time drew this line in accordance with an agreement they had made with Abdul Rahman Khan. Whatever Pakistani officials say about this is unacceptable because it is not related to them,” he said.

Stanikzai further stated that when this line was created, there was no country named Pakistan on the world map.

"Pakistan did not exist when Durand's imaginary line was drawn. Fifty years later, Pakistan was established. Pakistan is younger than the Durand Line,” the deputy foreign minister said.

Analysts shares various views on how to solve challenges between Kabul and Islamabad.

“This decision was made between Afghanistan and the foreign minister of British India and it was temporary. We hope that the United Nations takes step in this regard and confirms  a decision that is made by the people of the two sides,” Fahim Chakari, a political analyst said.

Earlier, the prime minister of the caretaker government of Pakistan, Anwar ul-Haq Kakar, in a special interview with TOLOnews claimed that the Durand Line is an internationally recognized “border” between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
