Efforts Being Made to Strengthen Afghan-Pakistani Relations: Shakib

The charge d'affaires of Afghanistan's embassy in Islamabad, Sardar Ahmad Shakib, said that he has discussed Pakistan's recent aerial attacks, the recent clashes along the Durand Line, and the political and trade challenges between Kabul and Islamabad with Pakistan's special representative for Afghanistan.

Sardar Ahmad Shakib said that in the meeting with Asif Ali Durrani, it was agreed that these attacks would not be repeated in the future.

According to Shakib, a trade delegation is expected to travel from Pakistan to Afghanistan on the twenty-fifth of March.

Shakib said, "The recent tensions and problems caused by Pakistan's recent bombings were discussed, and it was agreed that such incidents should not be repeated in the future, and both countries should work together."

Hamdullah Fetrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, regarding this meeting, said: "The charge d'affaires of the Islamic Emirate's embassy in Islamabad, Mawlawi Sardar Ahmad Shakib, met with Pakistan's special representative for Afghanistan. Recent developments between Pakistan and Afghanistan were discussed in the meeting. The Pakistani side stated that they want to resolve issues through understanding and dialogue. Similarly, the charge d'affaires of the Islamic Emirate's embassy stated that the Islamic Emirate wants to resolve issues through understanding and dialogue."

Meanwhile, some Pakistani media outlets, quoting Asif Ali Durrani, reported that despite recent military actions, there is no interruption in relations with the interim government in Afghanistan. Based on these reports, the meeting emphasized strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Yousuf Amin Zazai, a political expert, told TOLOnews the following regarding relations with Islamabad: "Many issues should be seriously addressed, and people must play their role because the people are affected. Whether it's trade, security, or any other issues, tribes and people need to take action."

Shams Rahman Ahmadzai, another expert, said: "Pakistan and Afghanistan are such that they are indispensable to each other and cannot be separated. Therefore, it is necessary to work more in the economic sector, to enhance these relations, and if their delegation comes here, they should work on programs that will benefit both countries in the future."

Following Pakistan's aerial attacks on parts of Paktika and Khost provinces, which resulted in at least eight deaths, clashes also occurred between the Islamic Emirate forces and Pakistani border guards in the districts of Tani in Khost, Dand Wa Patan in Paktia, and Barmal in Paktika.
