81 Children Released From Juvenile Detention Center in Kabul Over Ramadan

The juvenile detention and training center reported that 81 children have been released from Kabul prison since the beginning of Ramadan.

According to the center, 28 were released this Saturday following a decree by the leader of the Islamic Emirate on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

“28 were released from the reform center on Saturday based on the decree of Amir al-Mu'minin and the decision of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” said Mohammad Zaman Rahmani, an officer at the juvenile detention and training center.

Marina, who came to pick up her son Gul Ahmad, told a TOLOnews reporter: 'His father received a call and he called me. We cried out of happiness and went to Pul-e-Charkhi, where our child was handed over to us.'

“Now that I have been released, I will study well and go to school,” said Gul Ahmad, a released detainee.

Meanwhile, the deputy head of the Office of the Prison Administration, Habibullah Badr, stated that efforts to provide job opportunities for the children released from prison continue.

“'Whether it's the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, or schools, if it's within our capacity, we collaborate with them day and night,” he added.

Nazar Mohammad Naseri, the head of the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, also said that various educational opportunities have been provided for the children at this center.

“We started a six-month course that will be followed up after their release, and God willing, they will also find suitable job opportunities,” said Nazar Mohammad Naseri.

The leader of the Islamic Emirate issued a decree this Saturday for the release of over 2,000 prisoners, including women, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
