MoI: MPs Have Too Many Guards, Guns

The Ministry of Interior reported issuing weapons licenses to 160 members of the House of Representatives, however, the MoI claims to not know how the remaining 90 members of the parliament managed to get weapons.

Based on Afghan law, a member of parliament is allowed to keep four security guards.

Allah Gul Mujahid, an MP from Kabul, admits that he keeps six body guards with heavy weapons at his home.

“Some friends were acting as enemies, so I was carrying rockets and mortars, but after the presidential decree, I removed all the weapons,” said MP Allah Gul Mujahid.
