Afghan Businessman to Invest $10 Billion in Country

Mirwais Azizi, an Afghan businessman, during his trip to Herat province said that he will invest $10 billion dollars in the energy and railway sectors in Afghanistan in the coming days.

Azizi said that the opportunity to invest in the country has been provided and thousands of young people will be given job opportunities by launching large projects.

Mirwais Azizi, head of Azizi foundation, said: “I want to invest $10 billion dollars in this country in the near future, and this is a very big investment. So far, this kind of investment in the country has not been made at the level of foreign countries, nor to any other level.”

Azizi during his trip to Herat, has put into operation a township he built for the earthquake victims in  Siah Aab village of Zindajan district.

This township, built according to standards, has nearly 300 houses and its construction cost 200 million Afghanis.

Azizi added: "We want to build a big garden for them, with a park in it, and plant saplings and plant approximately 15,000 to 20,000 fruit trees, and these families will be able to sell their  fruit after 3 or 4 years and make a permanent income for them."

Noor Ahmad Islamjar, governor of Herat, said: “They just cooperated in a show. I told the ambassador of Japan and the representatives of the United Nations to come and see what assistance you had with these people? We will count all your donated tents and I asked did you assist as much as one of our Afghans in one of our villages? Did your entire United Nations, along with all your noise and commotion, which is donors, money, and countries, cooperate as much as one of our Afghans?”

"Houses, a school and a mosque are the things they built for us,” said Nesar Ahmad, a Zindajan, Herat resident.

"We are very happy that they built a very good township for us, and they really built it exactly as we wanted and what they wanted," said Amir, another resident of Zindajan of Herat.

This Afghan businessman announced the investment of $10 billion dollars in the country while unemployment and economic challenges in the country have increased significantly.

The caretaker government officials want Afghan businessmen who have invested abroad to invest in the industry and commerce sector in Afghanistan.
According to them, by providing security in the country, the investment opportunity has been provided.
