Pakistan-Afghanistan Meeting Aims to Boost Trade, Ease Tensions

A bilateral meeting aimed at expanding trade relations between a Pakistani delegation and the officials of the Islamic Emirate in Kabul held on Tuesday (March 26).

Nuruddin Azizi, the acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, stated that he expects the tensions between Kabul and Islamabad to be resolved with the arrival of a delegation from Pakistan.

The meeting extensively addressed issues including the expansion of trade relations and the resolution of commercial and transit challenges between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"We hope that with the arrival of Agha Sahib, the tension between Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan will be eliminated or at least reduced," said Azizi.

Meanwhile, a number of traders emphasize that the arrival of a delegation from Pakistan under current circumstances plays a crucial role in improving trade relations between the two countries.

Zalmay Azimi, a trader, said: "Following the recent increase in problems, this delegation has traveled to Afghanistan. We hope that this trip will have a good outcome for us."

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment has stated that political issues have always had negative effects on trade between Kabul and Islamabad, and it is necessary for Afghanistan-Pakistan trade relations to be in accordance with international principles.

"Our trade should be separated from politics and proceed based on principles with countries around the world, especially neighbors," said Mohammad Younus Momand, the first deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment.

On Monday (March 25), a delegation led by Mohammad Khurram Agha, the Deputy Minister of Commerce of Pakistan, arrived in Afghanistan on a two-day trip.
