Afghan Athlete to Compete In London Half Marathon

Wali Mohammad Noori, a blind Afghan athlete, is set to run a half marathon in London on Sunday.

Noori took third place in a running competition held over a month ago in London. Noori’s good performance in the previous competition led him to be selected for the next half marathon.

He will compete against 500 athletes from around the world on Sunday, November 21.

“My competition will be held on Sunday in England. I hope to win a championship for Afghanistan,” Noori said.

The Afghan athlete is trained by a coach named Mr. Matthew.

“We had a good training session, and we hope to get a good result on November 21," Coach Matthew said.

Noori was a member of the Afghan security forces and lost his sight in a landmine blast in the southern province of Helmand.
