Helmand governor’s office in a statement on Sunday said that Mullah Mohammad Rahim Mannan, also known as Mullah Abdulmannan Akhund, head of Taliban’s military commission and designated governor of Helmand, was killed in a drone strike in the province on Saturday.
The statement said the drone strike was carried out in Helmand’s Nawzad district.
The statement added that four other Taliban members, including his two spokespersons, who were with Mannan were also killed in the airstrike.
