At least 15 civilians among them six women, one man, six young girls and two children were killed and two others were wounded as after their vehicle hit a roadside mine in Khan Abad district of Kunduz province, said Abdul Jabbar Naeemi, the governor of Kunduz province.

He said that the roadside bomb was planted by the Taliban insurgents and the civilians were travelling to Imam Sahib district of the province to participate in a wedding ceremony.

Lawmakers in Afghanistan’s parliament on Wednesday said that the detention of two civil society activists from Logar province by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) is “questionable,” saying their detention by the NDS was an “extrajudicial” action, and the country has other legal and judicial institutions to tackle such cases.

Musa Mahmoudi and Ehsanullah Hamidi, two civil society activists who exposed allegations of mass sexual abuse of children and youth in Logar province, were picked up and detained by the NDS last week but were handed over to the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Council (AIHRC) today.
