At least six Taliban insurgents were killed in a clash with Afghan forces in Takhar province on Monday, local officials said Tuesday.
The clash broke out on Monday in Khwaja Ghar district when dozen of insurgents attacked parts of the district.
Nine other insurgents were wounded in the clash, officials said.
An army spokesman in the province, Ghulam Hazrat Karimi said after the insurgents attacked the district, they captured several villages.
However, government forces re-captured the villages from the insurgents within a short time.
During the clashes three Afghan forces were killed and three others were wounded, Karimi said.
