Afghan Cricketer Gurbaz Scores Century on His ODI Debut

Afghan cricketer Rahmanullah Gurbaz,19, on Thursday scored a century in his first One Day International (ODI), while playing for the national team against Ireland.  

He is the first Afghan player to get a century in a debut ODI.  

Gurbaz got 127 runs with eight fours and nine sixes in the opening match of the ODI series against Ireland, played at Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. 

His first T20I debut was against Zimbabwe in Dhaka, Sep 14, 2019.

His playing role is wicketkeeper batsman. 

In today’s match, Afghanistan set a 288-run target for Ireland. The Ireland team has started batting. 

Gurbaz and Javed Ahmadi had a brilliant display of batting in the opening of the match as both got 100. 
With this, Ahmadi becomes the 11th Afghan player to reach 1,000 runs in ODI matches.

Afghan cricket star Rashid Khan also got a quick half-century hitting five sixes and a four in the match. 

Before this, Rashid was playing for the Adelaide Strikers in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), but returned to Abu Dhabi to play on the national team.

The ODI series is scheduled for January 21, 24 and 26.
