Muttaqi Recounts Achievements of Doha Visit

Returning from a five-day visit to Qatar, Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting minister of foreign affairs, said Friday that the Gulf states pledged to provide aid to Afghanistan.

The delegates of the Islamic Emirate recently visited Doha, capital of Qatar, where they held talks with representatives of various countries including the Gulf states, and Minister Amir Mutaqqi stated that these countries pledged to assist Afghanistan’s health, economy and commercial sectors.

“It was the first meeting with the Gulf states. It is an achievement that we didn’t have before,” said Amir Khan Muttaqi.

At the same trip, Kabul’s delegation, led by Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with representatives of European countries who pledged to help with the health issues and economy of Afghanistan.

“We have business people in the Gulf states. We shared their problems with the Gulf countries,” said Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Analysts commented on the benefits of holding such talks.

“These meetings give us expectations for the future, that the Islamic Emirate will be recognized,” said Fahimd Chakari, university professor.

Earlier, delegations of the Islamic Emirate attended the meetings held in Norway, Iran, Pakistan, Qatar and Turkmenistan to seek engagement internationally.
